Phase Two (complete)

In March of 2011, The Open World project successfully sent two laptops and internet access to the students of the SAV School. With the initial goal of the project realized, we announced the completion of our project on many of our social media outlets. However, in the midst of our celebration, we learned that due to difficulties in renewing one of their leases, the SAV School would lose half of their school buildings and be forced to say goodbye to a portion of their students. Determined to find a solution to these adverse complications, Open World has developed a new mission to bring a new school to the students of SAV. While this goal may be lofty, if we could find solutions to the incredible amount of problems we faced in the project’s beginning, then it is clear that with support from the individuals and businesses who made this project possible, we can overcome the current challenges set against the students of the SAV School.

On December 24th, 2011 Open World had a Skype call with Govinda to solidify the details of the renewed mission. Govinda stated that the after speaking with contractors and land brokers that he had drawn up a break-down of estimated costs accumulating about $125,000 total. He noted that land prices change very often annually, and that he envisioned the new building with a playground and 14 school-rooms. A full break-down of the costs and materials can be seen below.

As a result of Phase Two, the project is seeing a new beginning. From spurring social media growth to creating this brand new website we are determined to fortify the beginning of something wonderful. Our view of how this project will go is one of envisioning small goals that eventually lead to the bigger picture of new sustainable school buildings for the children. We’ve already succeeded in bringing a library  and laptops to the school, so it is time to reach for greater heights. We’re glad to welcome all visitors to join in us in our newest journey, Phase Two!
